Following the route taken by St Paul when he went on his first missionary journey, those with an interest in the history or religious culture of the country will find much to fascinate them on this guided walk. With stunning nature to captivate at every turn, visitors are sure to leave with lasting memories of this beautiful area.

The History of St Paul

Saul of Tarsus, or St Paul as he is more commonly known, is regarded as being the preacher to have made the greatest impact on Christianity, spreading Jesus’ message as he did throughout the Roman Empire. Born a Jew, his conversion to Christianity took place in a life changing experience on the road to Damascus. He travelled far and wide, including across Greece and Turkey, spreading the Christian word to Gentiles and helping to make Christianity a universal religion. Those taking part in Turkey walks that follow St Paul’s Trail will find this a superb opportunity to learn much more about the remarkable life and teachings of the man himself.

As much of the route is at quite high elevations, guided Turkey walks along St Paul’s Trail are ideal at most times of the year, including the height of summer. The cooler air at the higher altitudes, and the shade of the wooded areas mean that the walk is a comfortable one which should not represent too much of a challenge.
